Sight Folder: Pub 229 Workbook — Terms of use

Sight Folder is published by Chibu LLC. By using it you agree to these terms. If you got Sight Folder from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies, and where the two differ for an App Store copy, Apple's agreement governs.

What is free

Work a Sight, with every Pub 229 line shown, offline; the Line Explainer, Table Opening and About the Tables; your Sight Folder, every sight you save, kept on your phone; and Exam Drill on the 18 worked examples printed in Pub 229. They stay free.

The free week

On Android (Google Play), one tap in Sight Folder opens Sight Folder Pro for 7 days, with no card and no purchase: on a finished drill sheet (a worked example counts) until you start it or decline it, or the yearly plan on the Sight Folder Pro screen. Nothing is charged and nothing renews when the week ends: Pro simply locks again, and every sight you saved stays yours, as does the record of what your drills showed.

On iPhone and iPad (the App Store), the free week is Apple's 1-week free trial of the yearly subscription, for new subscribers, started from the yearly plan on the Sight Folder Pro screen. Starting it is a purchase in the App Store: when the week ends, the yearly price is charged to your Apple Account unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.

What you can buy

Sight Folder Pro adds to Exam Drill: practice sights after the 18 worked examples, aimed at the kind of line you missed most recently; Check my own sight, which checks a sight from your own homework or practice sheet line by line; and the record of what your drills show. There are two ways to buy it, and the free version is yours either way:

• Yearly: $19.99 a year (US price). It renews automatically each year at the same price until you cancel. Google Play takes the payment when you confirm. Cancel any time in your Google Play subscription settings (Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions); you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. On iPhone and iPad, it is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm, or when the free week ends, and it renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel any time in Settings: tap the name at the top, then Subscriptions.
• Monthly: $2.99 a month (US price). It renews automatically each month at the same price until you cancel. Google Play takes the payment when you confirm. Cancel any time in the same settings; you keep Pro until the end of the month you paid for. On iPhone and iPad, it is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in the same Settings.

Prices are set in the store and shown in your currency before you confirm. If a subscription price ever changes, the store tells you first, as its own rules require.

Refunds

Purchases are made through Google Play, and refunds are Google Play's to grant under its own refund policy, in Google Play's help (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637). On iPhone and iPad, purchases are made through the App Store, and refunds are Apple's to grant under its own policies (https://reportaproblem.apple.com).

Restoring

Use "Restore purchases" on the Sight Folder Pro screen, signed in to the same Google account, or on iPhone and iPad the same Apple Account. A subscription bought in one store does not carry over to the other.

Your content

The sights you work and save stay on your phone and are yours. If Pro ends, every saved sight still opens, the worked examples still drill, and the record of what your drills showed stays readable; only practice sights after the worked examples and Check my own sight ask for Pro again, and a sight of either kind left half typed is kept for you.

No warranty

Sight Folder is provided as it is. It is a study and working aid that reproduces the published Pub 229 method. It does not compute GHA or declination, fix a position or plot a line of position, and it is not a substitute for the official tables, an examiner, or the navigator's own judgement at sea. Its table values are regenerated from the published formula; 154 of them were checked against the printed volumes (Vols 1 to 4 and 6), and the rest were not individually compared with print.
